Job Summary:
Dine Source is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). We are looking for a candidate with strong systems engineering and communication skills. The candidate must have the knowledge, experience and leadership required to provide full-spectrum Systems Engineering services to support the planning, design, test, update, documentation, implementation, development, and sustainment/fielding to the OCIO team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
● Provide administration and operations support for Microsoft Windows Servers;● Provide administration and operations support for Microsoft Windows Desktops;● Provide administration and operations support for Active Directory Services,Replication, Schema;● Provide administration and operations support for Microsoft Best SecurityPractices;● Provide administration and operations support for Patching and ConfigurationManagement;● Provide administration and operations support for Active DirectoryForest/Domain/Forest Trusts;● Provide administration and operations support for PowerShell and/or Windowsscripting for AD;● Provide administration and operations support for Microsoft Azure Services;● Provide administration and operations support for Domain Name Services;● Provide administration and operations support for Group Policy;● Provide administration and operations support for Kerberos;● Provide administration and operations support for Certificates Authority;● Deploy, administer, and maintain endpoints ;● Offline Microsoft Active Directory Risk and Assessments;● Provide advice on how to manage information-security related risks;● Function as an escalation contact for all support issues;● Provide hardware configuration and software support for all government ITequipment and software applications;● Perform equipment inventory, relocation, installation, expansion, upgrade, refresh,connection or disconnection, peripheral devices and support/maintenance;
● Provide software installation support in addition to associated softwareapplications;● Install, configure, update, and upgrade software and applications;● Troubleshoot and resolve software performance issues;● Recommend software or hardware upgrade to improve system availability andperformance;● Install and configure all network equipment to include servers, switches androuters;● Identify potential or actual local or remote system failures and prevent or quicklyprovide a remedy to ensure systems remain or are quickly made operational;● Perform preventative maintenance on all network hardware and software toensure optimal performance;● Support power outage – scheduled and unscheduled maintenance;● Perform Security Tasks○ Perform Incident investigation(s) activities○ Perform incident reporting activities○ Perform patch management activities● Perform remediation activities● Provide COOP Support;● Monitor computer and server logs to track system performance trends; and● Develop ESAE performance metrics.
Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):
- Must be a US citizen able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Education:
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field is often required. Some employers may prefer or require a master's degree for more advanced positions.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in systems design and analysis.
- Knowledge of hardware, software, networking, and operating systems.
- Understanding of systems architecture and integration.
- Experience with scripting languages and automation tools.
- Familiarity with database management and cloud technologies.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Project management skills, including planning and organization.
Certifications:
- Depending on the industry and specific job role, certifications such as Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP), Certified Systems Engineering Practitioner (CSEP), or vendor-specific certifications from companies like Microsoft, Cisco, or AWS can be beneficial.
Experience:
- Entry-level positions may require internship experience or practical projects during education.
- Mid-level positions typically require several years of experience in systems engineering or a related field.
- Senior-level positions may require extensive experience managing complex systems projects and leading teams.
