We’re seeking a Principal Product Designer who wants to make a difference in the lives of hourly workers. Our customers will gain peace of mind and improve their financial stability through your work.
You’ll report directly to our Head of Product Design, and be an integral part of growing our design culture and practice at Homebase. In your day-to-day, you’ll embed with a cross-functional team alongside Engineering, Product, and Data, working together to shape the Homebase roadmap and deliver meaningful outcomes for our customers.
You’ll lead the end-to-end experience alongside your Product and Engineering colleagues. You’ll also look proactively across our different product areas to define how all of our offerings work together. You may have 1-2 direct reports (negotiable) who are working on the same problems. You’ll take a leadership role in design critique, and help shape the long-term vision for the Homebase Design Team as well as Financial Services, influencing your colleagues through qualitative and quantitative data.
You’ll be a great fit if:
- You’ve owned design projects from concept to implementation through sound research, discovery, collaboration, iteration, and partnering with Engineers during execution.
- You have specific Product Design experience in FinTech or similarly complex, regulated fields (examples might include healthcare, real estate, HRIS software, etc).
- You’ve shipped not just individual features, but entire end-to-end experiences across web and mobile that start from understanding user needs and contexts.
- You can not only articulate your target UX metrics, but also define and build to test them.
- You have a wide range of UX practices in your personal toolkit. Examples could include (but are not limited to!) task flows, wireframing, low-fidelity prototyping, workshop facilitation, design research, and final visual polish.
- You’re able to clearly articulate your design decisions with peers and stakeholders, and are skilled at giving and receiving design feedback.
- You have foundational UI skills, and understand principles of typography, color, layout, and visual rhythm — particularly on iOS and Android devices.
- You’ve demonstrated that you can balance speed and quality, always keeping our customers’ needs central to your work.
- You demonstrate a sense of ownership and accountability of the team’s work and outcomes — the good and the bad.
- You have a learning mindset. You are intellectually curious with a desire to continuously learn and develop.
- You demonstrate humility, knowing that our work isn’t about us; it’s about building in service to our customers. You share credit with team members, and welcome collaboration, ideas, and feedback.
Bonus points if:
- You have 8+ years of UX-focused product design experience
- You have significant experience leading customer discovery and user research efforts
- You have formal education of some kind in user experience design (bootcamps count!)
- You are well-versed in Figma best practices and have experience working with design systems
If this sounds like you, please apply!
