Job Description

NOTE: This position requires passing a ServiceNow background screening, USFedPASS (US Federal Personnel Authorization Screening Standards). This includes a credit check, criminal/misdemeanor check and taking a drug test. Any employment is contingent upon passing the screening. We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer with experience in both Puppet and Python development to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our infrastructure, ensuring its scalability, security, and reliability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering and experience with both Puppet and Python development.

What you get to do in this role:

• You will be an instrumental team member in the global team to define, implement, automate and maintain the configuration management for ServiceNow’s servers in our private as well as public cloud.
• You will be responsible for the scalability, reliability and security of the configuration management infrastructure and responding to stakeholder questions on the system.
• You will manage code reviews from other stakeholders for configuration management code.
• You will be responsible for planning and executing upgrades on both system and application level for the environments.
• You will be part of the team to move the code base to a newer technology using Red Hat tooling.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you have:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant experience.
• 4+ years’ experience in system admin on Linux servers (Red Hat preferred)
• 2+ years’ experience in configuration management tools like Puppet (preferred) or Salt.
• 2+ years’ experience developing in Python.
• 2+ years’ experience in automation frameworks (bash, ansible)
• 2+ years’ experience in monitoring tool like Prometheus and log aggregation tools like Splunk.
• Ability to solve problem at scale. All our servers use the configuration settings that this team develops and serve all our customers.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Application Software development experience with Git is a plus.
• Experience with Puppet Enterprise is a plus.
• Experience with Red Hat Satellite is a plus.

For positions in California (outside of the Bay Area), we offer a base pay of $123,300 - $209,700, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure.
