Job Overview

UC Clermont College Science and Health Department is recruiting for a full-time (100% FTE) Senior Laboratory Associate. Salary commensurate with experience. This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence for our students, faculty, staff and all our activities. The position is open until it is filled and the review of applications will begin in May 2026.

Essential Functions

The primary role of this position is to provide support activities for the instructional needs of designated laboratories and to administer the daily operational policies of the laboratories. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

Laboratory Preparation & Instructional Support

  • Prepare laboratory materials for all scheduled courses, including reagents, solutions, media, specimens, cultures, and equipment.
    • Supporting labs may include A&P, Microbiology, Biology, Cell Biology, Environmental Studies, Ecology, and Allied Health (ie: Physical Therapy Assistant and Surgical Technician programs).
  • Set up and break down laboratory exercises according to faculty lab manuals and course schedules.
  • Maintain and catalog bacteria cultures, prepare agar plates and different types of media.
  • Coordinate lab preparation timelines with multiple instructors to ensure readiness for concurrent courses.

 

Laboratory Operations & Organization

  • Oversee daily operations of teaching laboratories, prep rooms, and shared lab spaces.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and functional lab environments in compliance with current institutional standards.
    • This will include disposal and storage of all chemical and biohazard lab waste according to regulations by UC Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). Label and store in EHS containers and/or bottles for pick up by the UC EHS department for disposal.
  • Schedule laboratory spaces and shared equipment in coordination with faculty, staff and department.

 

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including chemical hygiene, biosafety, bloodborne pathogens, UC guidelines and OSHA standards.
    • This will include communicating with faculty/staff/students about chemical and biohazard safety program administration. Responsible for keeping record of training certificates for all faculty/staff/students.
  • Manage chemical and biological inventories, including labeling, storage, compatibility, and disposal.
  • Coordinate hazardous waste handling and disposal according to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Train faculty, staff, and student workers on laboratory safety procedures and emergency protocols.

 

Equipment & Resource Management

  • Maintain a purchasing card and all the digital record keeping for the financial accounts in UC’s Concur System.
  • Order, receive, and track of lab supplies and equipment within departmental or grant budgets.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate repairs for laboratory equipment (microscopes, incubators, autoclaves, micropipettes, refrigerators, freezers, etc.).
