Consultant, Software Engineer (Full Stack)

This will be a hybrid model role that requires you to be in the Columbus, Ohio office 2 days per week.
We are seeking a Tech Lead Consultant, Software Engineer within the Technology Integration Platforms BSA that will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining the Nationwide Partnership Portal (a.k.a developer.nationwide.com).
This position requires a highly skilled and collaborative individual to lead technical efforts, ensure best practices in development, and enhance the developer experience. The ideal candidate will bridge business objectives with technical solutions, contributing to our mission to enable seamless integrations and empower partners with top-tier digital tools.
The ideal candidate will have the following characteristics:
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
Strong communication, people interaction, and self-leadership skills
Thought leadership with strong ability to influence and lead continuous improvement
Experience developing software via Agile software development methodologies
Proven ability to document and share knowledge effectively (knowledge management)
Technology depth and experience with designing, building and supporting APIs and Event Streams
Experience with web performance optimization and security best practices
Technical skills:
Full stack development experience
Java / Springboot and Angular development
Microservices / REST APIs
Cloud Native applications in AWS or Azure
Docker container architecture managed by Kubernetes
CI/CD pipeline enablement
Experience with Apigee is a plus
Experience developing and managing content in a CMS such as Contentful is a plus

Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
Mentors and trains other team members on design techniques, tools and coding standards.
Provides strategic advice on using technology to achieve goals.
Drives cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams.
Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and optimal practices.
Champions the use of DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
Ensures continuous learning and improvement through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
Manages individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.
