SCOPE OF ROLE
The Manager II, Manufacturing Engineering position is crucial to the support of Union Grove’s operations and cost reduction efforts, which are aligned with all manufacturing and process engineering activities and initiatives for the site. The Manager II, Manufacturing Engineering, is responsible for executing engineering initiatives to support production of existing product lines, as well as identifying and executing projects to improve component costs. Owns the manufacturing process from completed product designs through shipping of finished product. Responsible for ensuring that the appropriate means of production (equipment, tooling, fixtures) are in place and maintained, as well as robust and capable methods and processes, utilizing the 80/20 business philosophy, project management, vendor collaboration, and continuous improvement.
This position is an onsite role based out of Regal Rexnord’s Union Grove, Wisconsin facility and will report directly to the Plant Manager.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians to develop and maintain robust, capable, and cost-effective processes.
Works with planning and production departments to determine capacity requirements for new and existing product.
Evaluates new designs against existing equipment and process capabilities.
Works with quality to identify opportunities for error-proofing, reduction in defect rates or other improvements.
Leads capital equipment projects from concept, through selection, justification, and implementation.
Works with EHS team to identify and reduce hazards; supports a zero-harm vision through ensuring new and existing equipment and processes have appropriate safeguards in place.
Leads CNC programming team and drives best practices for standardization and optimization of programs.
Works with production to understand key bottlenecks and areas of low productivity or quality and leads manufacturing engineering team to drive resolution.
Leads team in identifying areas for cost savings through productivity improvements, waste reduction, or quality improvement. Actively cultivates a funnel of new potential projects, documents and tracks savings for active projects.
Takes an entrepreneurial role in identifying improvement opportunities, uses a ‘creativity before capital’ approach.
Monitors industry trends and developments in technology and leads evaluation and justification of identified technology/systems improvements.
Provides hiring, promotion and disciplinary action recommendations, as well as performance evaluation and feedback for direct reports.
Responsible for achieving department goals and objectives, and development of employees.
Time is split between an office environment and production floor where personal protective safety equipment must be worn.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or another relevant discipline from an accredited university is required.
10+ years’ relevant hands-on experience in a mechanical engineering design position in a production manufacturing environment with the ability to demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of industrial equipment or products.
Capable of working independently as well as in a cross-functional team environment with remote global resources, to include effective communication through diverse channels (verbal, written, video, etc.)
Working knowledge of SolidWorks and GD&T principles.
Education or training in CNC Machining, robotics, and/or test equipment
Prior experience working in a fast-paced, metric-driven environment.
Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks with a sense of urgency and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Willing and able to travel up to 10% to other sites to observe current methods or implement changes.
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of industrial gearboxes and the design or manufacturing processes of components such as gears, shafts, bearings, castings, fabrications, forgings, and fasteners.
Previous project management experience.
Proficient in Oracle or other ERP systems, with the ability to leverage these tools for project management and cost analysis.
