General Information:
The Department of Psychology in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies (CHBS) at James Madison University (JMU) invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor and with a focus on Clinical Psychology, to begin August 2026. The new hire will join an enthusiastic pre-tenure cohort, as the department has been expanding and recently welcomed several new colleagues.

The mission of the Department of Psychology is “to educate students in, and contribute to, the science of psychology”. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching Abnormal Psychology and other courses in their areas of expertise, particularly those that help meet major requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Tenure-track faculty also are expected to develop an active program of scholarship that involves undergraduate students in research. Supervision of independent reading and research projects and honors thesis projects are typical components of an individual’s teaching assignment. Occasional course instruction and supervision of graduate students enrolled in JMU’s M.A. in Psychological Sciences Program may be possible. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to serve as an academic advisor to Psychology majors and to contribute to the service activities of the department, college, and university, while often taking part in professional service as well.
