Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior SAS Platform Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SAS platform administration, enterprise analytics environments, and cloud-based deployments. This role will be responsible for the installation, configuration, migration, and ongoing support of SAS environments across multiple operating systems and cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SAS 8/9.x/VIYA environments on AIX, Linux (Red Hat, SUSE), and Windows Server platforms.
- Administer SAS Grid, SAS BI, and SAS Enterprise applications, including user/group management, security, metadata, and backup/recovery.
- Lead SAS migrations and upgrades (e.g., SAS 9.4 M7 to M8, OS migrations from RHEL 7.x to 8.x), including inventory, planning, and execution.
- Integrate SAS with cloud platforms (AWS EC2, Snowflake, S3) and configure for high-performance analytics and AI initiatives.
- Manage and optimize SAS performance, storage, and resource allocation (SASWORK, UTIL, SORTSIZE, MEMSIZE).
- Support and troubleshoot SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Studio, SAS DI Studio, SAS OLAP, and other SAS client tools.
- Implement and maintain disaster recovery, backup strategies, and security protocols for SAS environments.
- Collaborate with Linux, storage, and database teams to ensure seamless integration and support for Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, and other data sources.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (UNIX shell, Python) for monitoring, alerting, and operational efficiency.
- Provide 24x7 production support for critical SAS environments and participate in on-call rotations.
- Document processes provide training, and support end users and developers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience as a SAS Platform Administrator or similar role.
- Proven expertise in SAS 8/9.x/VIYA installation, configuration, and administration.
- Strong experience with SAS Grid, SAS BI, and enterprise analytics environments.
- Proficiency in UNIX/Linux system administration and scripting.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and large-scale storage solutions.
- Familiarity with job schedulers (Control M, CA7, Autosys, UNIX Cron).
- Experience with monitoring tools (Tivoli, HP OpenView) and ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Remedy).
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Experience with R administration (Posit RStudio, R Connect).
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Power BI, Business Objects, and other BI/reporting tools.
- SAS Platform Administrator and/or SAS Developer certification(s) preferred.
- Experience supporting large user bases (1000+ users) and mission-critical environments.
- Familiarity with Active Directory integration, security best practices, and compliance requirements.
Annual Salary
$105,000.00 - $215,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
