We are looking for a Thermal and Fluid Systems Technical Specialist to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Columbus, IN location.
This applied science position utilizes the core competencies of thermal and fluid sciences, using and advancing analytical and experimental approaches to answer key questions about the performance and architecture of a system or component. This drives decisions and creates technical content which ultimately leads to state of the art, highly effective, environmentally friendly, and competitive products.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Stakeholder Collaboration: By obtaining input and negotiating with various stakeholders, you'll deliver valuable information, guidance, and recommendations to support project decisions and optimize designs.
- Decision Making: Making informed decisions on short-term project details, you'll conduct analysis, testing, and communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure successful project progression.
- Process Improvement: Applying and supporting processes like Pre Program Planning (PPP), Product Preceding Technology (PPT), and Value Package Introduction (VPI), you'll enhance the quality of decision-making and project outcomes.
- Technical Expertise: Utilizing tools related to thermal and fluid sciences, you'll support high-quality decision-making and contribute to the technical excellence of the team.
- Leadership: Providing independent leadership on smaller projects or complex components, you'll navigate ambiguity and take full accountability for project success.
- Execution: Delivering independent execution of established and emerging work processes, you'll develop your technology and product knowledge while driving improvements.
- Process Development: Leading the development and improvement of work processes and systems, you'll enhance functional discipline within the business unit.
- Team Coordination: Coordinating and directing work among technicians and temporary employees, you'll assist in knowledge transfer and influence technical direction within the project team.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Applies Principles of Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer - Interprets and predicts the performance of fluid and thermal systems by leveraging a quantitative and intuitive comprehension of the flow of liquids and gases, the transfer of thermal energy between elements of a system, and the application of modeling and experimental tools, to answer key questions about the system or component.
