About the role

What Your Day Will Look Like:

As a wastewater treatment principal engineer, you'll lead a variety of wastewater treatment engineering projects for municipal, federal, industrial structures. You'll be required to work independently and as part of a larger multi-discipline team to develop design concepts and prepare preliminary and detailed designs. The wastewater treatment principal engineer reports to the water and wastewater treatment group manager.

What You'll Do:

  • Support or lead the delivery of wastewater treatment projects (treatment plants, pumping systems etc.) and champion quality management process to minimize risk and maintain quality of work.  Participate in risk assessments as well as project failure reviews to identify lessons learned and adjust procedures for subsequent projects. Coordinate with operations staff to assist with workload balancing project management tasks. 
  • Coordinate with the technical practice group leader and client service managers to develop strategies for increasing market share, to include R&D opportunities, pilot studies, third party technology validation testing, and adoption and implementation of new technologies and approaches.   
  • Develop tools, technical guidance, staffing recommendations, quality reviews and reference material related to wastewater treatment for Client Service Managers and Project Managers and support staff to adhere to the Quality Program Coordinate with business development teams as a primary support on strategic pursuits and key teaming discussions. Participate in and support proposal processes. 
  • Actively engage in relevant professional associations through committee work, authorship of articles, papers, and presentations, and board positions. 
  • Support technical practice group members through coaching, mentorship, and review 

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil, mechanical, environmental, chemical, construction management, business or public administration, or related field for subject matter area.
  • Minimum ten years' experience with wastewater treatment technical practices and industry engagement 
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, in addition to discipline specific tools and software such as biological and hydraulic modeling and design tools, and the ability to teach and train others in said software.
  • This office job primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines. May occasionally be exposed to noise.
  • While performing the duties of this job, physical demands of the employee may include constant sitting, talking, hearing, repetitive motions and occasional standing, moving, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, and coordination. This job will rarely require lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling over to 35 lbs.
