SUMMARY
The job of a Clinic Receptionist is done for the purpose of greeting, instructing, directing, and scheduling patients and visitors in a clinic setting. The receptionist will serve as a liaison between the patient and medical support staff.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet patients in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
- Answer telephone, screen, and direct calls take messages, and provide information.
- Register patients according to the clinic’s protocol.
- Prepare a new patient’s chart with correct information and paperwork.
- Balance cash drawer at the end of each business day.
- Performing other basic clerical duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains forms and supplies required for front desk activities.
- Attends staff and educational meetings.
- Adheres to the dress code, attendance, and all other company policies and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent telephone manners and etiquette.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- One year of experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Normal for an office environment.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- Normally works in a well-lighted, well-ventilated area.
- Must be able to work under the stress and conditions that normally exist in a hospital setting.
- Classification Category II – Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues but that may require the performance of Category I tasks unexpectedly or on short notice.
