The Novelis Corporate team is seeking a Senior Manager of Portfolio & Risk Management. The person in this role will report to the CapEx Management Head. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Novelis Capital Project Portfolio including relevant KPIs, enable decision-making process for the global portfolio of projects from strategic to sustaining, assessing project risk exposure related to the strategic capital projects currently in execution, identifying critical areas or risks and required mitigations, and providing consistent portfolio reporting to the executives. This position will bring visibility, develop and apply consistently best practice reporting standards to enable effective capital project investments in the CapEx Management (CM).
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the portfolio of capital projects, ranging from strategic to sustaining.
- Develop standard tools and processes to evaluate and prioritize projects, applying best practices and learning from past experiences.
- Develop & maintain a global capacity model to integrate strategic growth plans with business needs / customer requirements
- Conduct scenario planning exercises to prepare for a range of potential outcomes
- Create and develop standardized risk management processes and tools for all capital project teams to follow and use.
- Identify and manage risks associated with projects.
- Develop capability to conduct project assessments to gauge the maturity across the dimension of scope, schedule, cost, risk, controls & human capital.
- Create early warning indicators to improve reaction time and preparedness to risk events
- Drive reporting of risk KPI’s across capital projects and progress of mitigations
- Conduct project assessments to create a transparent and clear status of risk, maturity, and adherence to program processes, procedures, and standards for all capital projects
- Support project teams to build & maintain their risk registers, explore solutions, and create effective and feasible risk mitigations
- Engage directly with individual project teams to provide support and guidance
- Ensure the business objectives and investment rationale for each project are tracked throughout the lifecycle and fully accomplish
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10 or more years of experience in project management, risk management and business development in a leadership capacity
- Proven ability to build and develop world-class risk management practices
- Effective communicator at various levels of the organization, proven ability to achieve results in a challenging and dynamic environment, and able to successfully lead a team and partner with peers to jointly deliver on the needs of the business
- Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or equivalent field of study
- Global manufacturing experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA
- PMP certification
- Management consulting experience
- Aluminum industry experience
- Understanding of financial statement analysis including the calculation of key project execution phases
- Subject matter expertise in risks: market, contingency, procurement, engineering execution and design
- Scenario planning & analysis
