Job Description:

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Health and Wellbeing, the project assistant aids in overall management of mental health-related initiatives implemented using Board of Regents and Louisiana Department of Health grant funds (through June 30, 2027). The position will aid in financial management and managing initiatives related to helping students understand and access mental health resources and services. This role is integral to fostering a supportive campus environment, aiding in project and relationship management to implement mental health related initiatives.


Job Responsibilities:

Program Management - 60%

Aid in the launch and management of mental health initiatives aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of resources among LSU students. In partnership with individuals across the campus, will aid in coordinating events, workshops, and training sessions related to mental health education. Will play a role in assessing effectiveness of initiatives. 

Fund Management - 35%

Attend to processes and procedures for the procurement of mental health related initiatives. Manage budgets allocated for mental health programs and ensure funds are used effectively and efficiently. Track expenditures, prepare monthly reports, and ensure compliance with university and grant guidelines. Identify and pursue additional funding opportunities to support mental health initiatives. At points this may be higher priority or constitute more of the work due to deadlines.

Other Duties as Assigned - 5%

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five years of experience
  • Proven experience in project management, program coordination, or related roles, preferably within a higher education setting.

Additional Requirements/Expectations:

As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
