Wärtsilä Marine Power Solutions RDE, Automation & Controls is now looking for a product owner to join our product owner team. We in A&C develop and maintain embedded engine control systems for all Wärtsilä engines. Our product owner team has end-to-end responsibility for new innovations and life cycle management of our engine control system. We are looking for a Product Owner, Engine control systems. This position can be based in either Vaasa or Turku, Finland. We offer the possibility of hybrid work, including options for partial remote work.

 

 

Your role and responsibilities 

 

As a Product Owner, you’ll play a crucial role in overseeing the development of products related to control system electronics and software.

 

 

Your work will focus on these responsibilities:

 

  • Project management: Leading electronics control module development projects together with our suppliers.
  • Understanding client needs: Collaborate with prospective users and clients to understand their requirements and translate them into product specifications. 
  • Vision and Roadmap: Participate in refining the overall vision for the product and maintain a cohesive vision throughout the development process. Create a product roadmap based on this vision together with the Product manager and owner team. 
  • Backlog Management: Manage the product backlog, prioritize tasks based on changing requirements, and ensure alignment with client preferences. 
  • Product Creation Oversight: Oversee all stages of product creation, including design and development. 
  • Progress Monitoring: Continuously monitor and evaluate product progress at each stage of the process. 
  • Communication and Reporting: Close communication and negotiation with suppliers and stakeholders regarding ongoing, upcoming, and past development initiatives. Work closely with the product team and end-users to deliver updates and status reports. 

 

 

To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:

 

  • A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Process Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Skills to build understanding in how customers operate our products and the customers’ businesses. 
  • Good communication and presentation skills for different kind of audience 
  • Supplier management & understanding of the sourcing process 
  • Curiosity to learn new things and continuously improve way of working. 
  • Some knowledge of electronics & software development or production.
