About the role

Job Description:

The Role

In this role, the Design Researcher will play a key part in supporting the strategy and development of new products and applying best practices for overall user experience, as well as user testing (quantitative and qualitative methodologies). This work will focus on internal innovation teams seeking to learn “intrapreneurial” skills and bring new ideas to life.

We are looking for someone with a desire to participate in ground-breaking collaboration, a bias towards action, the ability to accept failure and demonstrate intellectual curiosity, and someone who can play, learn and have fun. We love people who think the world would be a better place if we rolled up our sleeves and made prototypes, so we can get quick feedback from real users.

The Skills and Mindset You Bring

  • You have the ability to take initiative

  • You enjoy trying new ways of working as an individual and within the team

  • You want to understand the business problem and needs as deeply as you can

  • You are curiously inquisitive and thrilled by discovering answers to the unknown

  • The needs and desires of the customer drive your actions and decisions every single day

  • Your strong inter-personal and communication (written and verbal) skills to help the team with documenting the business requirements, user stories/ use cases, customer personas and current and proposed processes

  • You have excellent presentation, facilitation and influencing skills

  • You have the ability to keep the management team apprised of project status through project documentation and presentations

  • You can build and specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research with customers and non-customers

  • You have a strong interest in analyzing consumer trends and customer feedback to add new product ideas and themes into the pipeline

  • You understand the importance of conducting competitive analysis to ensure the team is on top of the dynamic landscape

  • You can work with others across the firm to collaboratively learn more about Fidelity

  • The ability to get to ‘why’: ability to create clarity while navigating vague problem spaces and balancing stakeholder needs

  • Skills in quantitative research manipulated to create qualitative results, ie writing screeners and surveys using remote testing for researching early-stage prototypes

  • Developing skill in identifying hidden customer segments and latent customer needs

  • Communicate in a powerful and clear way. Use research insights to create an emotional connection with customers.
