About the role
The US Customs Northern & Southern Border Operations Lead and FAST coordinator is responsible to manage all Customs activities related to the importation and exportation of vehicles, parts and non-production materials in accordance with the U.S. Customs Laws and Regulations. The responsibility is for shipments from the ports of entry from Canada & Mexico, and all air/ocean imports.
Functions and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all classes of goods enter the United States with minimal delays
- Maintain liaison with US Customs Brokers, rail carriers, highway carriers and Stellantis Logistics to ensure adherence to internal processes and US Customs Requirements
- Coordinate timely processing of highway shipments through FAST (Free and Secure Trade)
- Handle all issues associated with the FAST & PAPS release process.
- Coordinate with our Mexico and Canada Customs team on allied shipments
- Consult with Stellantis Customs Compliance Manager to ensure qualified goods are entered claiming USMCA Free Trade Agreement
- Support Duty Drawback Program to ensure that duties and taxes are recovered on products that qualify for duty drawback
- Work with North American Plant personnel and Logistics to comply with CTPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) requirements
- Manage our CTPAT Account in CBP’s CTPAT Portal
- Communicate with US Customs Officials to resolve border and post importation issues
- Respond to CF28/CF29/Liquidated Damages Notices issued by CBP
- Coordinate system development on US Customs requirements and make recommendations for changes that enhance the efficiency of operations and increase compliance with the regulations.
- Represent Customs on various cross-functional teams at all levels in the organization
- Manage a service provider(s) for support with Import Operations and ensuring KPI's are established and met
- Driving IT Process Improvements that streamline processes and increase compliance
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with a focus on Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Finance, Economics or related field
- U.S. Customs Broker License required
- Minimum 6 years experience in Customs Compliance, preferably in the automotive industry
- Broad knowledge of US Customs rules and regulations
- Experience in associated supply chain management disciplines
- Prior experience supervising multi-disciplinary and operational teams
- Leadership skills managing professional team of customs technical experts
- Proven analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
