About the role

Position Description

Serco is hiring a Project Leader to support new and existing tasking for the Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) program in Newport, RI. In this role you will help manage the daily execution of technical instructions to provide services for NUWC Code 34 protected and wideband MILSATCOM systems and subsystems.

 

You will communicate directly with the customer regarding program status, help manage program financial and schedule requirements, and report task status to upper management, customers, and stakeholders. 

 

 

This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain and transfer your DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance 

 

In this role, you will:

 

  • Coordinate technical services across multiple Warfare Centers and DoD Components in the research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E), production, and sustainment of MILSATCOM systems and subsystems.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
  • Responsible for briefing customer, user, and upper management on all facets of the program.
  • Frequent customer, user, and upper management interaction is routine.
  • Direct the work of functional employees in the execution of the assigned projects while establishing and monitoring performance to schedules, plans, and milestones.
  • Oversee program financials including monthly actuals, manpower forecasting, reporting, variance justification, and generating Government spend plans.
  • Monitor cost and schedule of program, including managing risk and opportunities and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal and external customers providing regular program status reports to stakeholders.
  • Assist the Government team in technical evaluation of in-progress and proposed engineering, maintenance, and RDT&E efforts.

Qualifications

To be successful in this, role you will have:

 

  • An active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance
    • U.S Citizenship required 
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field
    • Or a High School Diploma/GED with minimum 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree 
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
    • experience within program/personnel management, budgets, program financials (monthly actuals, forecasting, reporting, variance justification, generating Gov spend plans), monitoring cost and schedule of program, etc.
  • Experience working within the DoD and/or Military
  • Experience with supervising a team
  • Personnel management experience
  • Ability to travel up to 10% 

 

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Active Top Secret security clearance 
  • PM/contractor experience working for the NUWC Newport market
