Job Location:  Sigma-Aldrich Corporation, 3050 Spruce Street, St. Louis, MO 63103

 

This is a hybrid role that allows for telecommuting but requires the individual to be in office 1-2 days per week.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

The Cloud Engineer will be part of a team of Web Admins responsible for the daily operations of the company’s eCommerce platforms. The position will build, maintain, and provide expertise in cloud-based applications to help deliver the team's roadmap to automation following continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) principles. Specific duties include the following:

 

  1. Identify, design, and implement process improvements and automation;
  2. Troubleshoot issues across our eCommerce GCP services and applications;
  3. Ensure compliance with regard to backups, disaster recovery, data privacy, and security;
  4. Keep cloud environments stable and secure to prevent downtime and security breaches; and
  5. Make hardware and software recommendations based on operational and project needs.

 

Job Requirements:

 

Employer requires candidate to have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology Management, or a closely related field and three (3) years of work experience as a Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or closely related occupation.

 

Candidate must also have the following:

 

  1. Demonstrated ability with infrastructure as code, including containerization, Kubernetes, and Harbor gained through three (3) years of work experience;
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of DevOps principles and practices, including design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines, deployment, and operational support gained through three (3) years of work experience;
  3. Demonstrated ability with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Gitlab gained through three (3) years of work experience;
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of system administration including Unix/Linux OS, WAF, load balancers, and DNS gained through three (3) years of work experience;
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of OS, middleware, databases, NoSQL, ESB, Integration, APIs, Web services, and REST gained through three (3) years of work experience; and
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of Agile software development and software development lifecycle gained through three (3) years of work experience.

 

All years of experience may be gained concurrently.

 

This is a hybrid role that allows for telecommuting but requires the individual to be in office 1-2 days per week.
