Designer, Sweaters (NYC)

Our Company:  BCI Brands designs, sources, and markets nationally and internationally an extensive range of women's career, casual sportswear, and dresses. Their products are sold through all primary retail distribution levels principally under various trademarks and under private label brand names, such as Ted Baker, Vince Camuto, CeCe, 1.state and Parker.

Position: Sweater Designer – BCI Brands

Responsibilities:

• Creating development tech packs to request proto samples
• Making sure that sample yarn is ordered and dyed/lab dipped, in order to make showroom samples for the sales team
• Sourcing yarn qualities
• Creates layouts for patterns, stitches, and garment construction as needed
• Helps manage yarn library, swatches, and organizational needs alongside assistant
• Mentor and lead assistant level designers

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in the sweater design industry
• Exhibit a strong work ethic, leadership skills, high energy level, organized, and detail-oriented
• Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation skills
• Needs strong technical knowledge in sweater makin: yarn qualities & sizes, and knitting techniques & stitches
• Comprehension of fully fashioned sweater construction and fit
• Strong illustrative skills for technical flats
• Proficient in Excel, Illustrator, Photoshop. Procreate a plus.
• Must be able to multitask and work cross functionally with multiple teams
• Must be able to work independently but also be a team player 
• Capable of effective correspondence with overseas factories

The salary range for this full-time position ranges from $80-95k and is dependent upon experience level.
