Night Shift 7

The Compressing Operator (Tableting) is responsible for operating, monitoring and adjusting tablet press equipment to ensure production of quality vitamin tablets.

Responsibilities:

  • Making adjustments to produce tablets of the proper weight, hardness and thickness.

  • Performs and records quality checks on tablets from each machine every hour and for two piece hardshell every 30 minutes; uses hardness tester, scales and micrometer as necessary, maintains written records of quality checks.

  • Perform simple computer tasks to analyze test results using graphs (SPC data charts).  

  • Apply Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to charge and yield products.

  • Cleans empty containers for re-use.

  • Fills drums and weighs them to ensure contents meet weight requirements, seals bags and lids and affixes labels to containers; and places on skids for transport.

  • Supplies blended product to tablet presses.

  • Performs minor cleaning of equipment and production area and ensures sanitary conditions.

  • Assists in changing tooling and press equipment when changing to new product.

  • Performs all duties in compliance with safety rules, standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Requires a high school diploma/GED completion or 5 years of work equivalency.

Certification:

None.

Experience:

Requires a working knowledge of compression operations, typically resulting from three months of experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Requires:

  • Manuel dexterity to manipulate controls on compressing and testing equipment. 

  • Ability to read English sufficiently well to understand operating procedures, good manufacturing practices and batch records; communicate with supervisors and others; and maintain routine records.

Physical Requirements:

Stand/walk for the full shift, with little/no flexibility to move from their stations unless relieved by others.  Perform repetitive job duties for long periods of time.  Intermittently lift loads of up to 35 pounds.  Pull/push large containers of product and uses hand dollies or pallet jacks as necessary.

Environment:

Constant exposure to noise levels loud enough to require employees to wear ear plugs.  Warm temperature levels, fumes, vibration, dust, etc., sufficient to cause minor discomfort.  The employee wears protective eye wear, hair net, uniforms, gloves, safety shoes, back support and at all times a dust mask.

Safety:

The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices, without endangering the health or safety of self or others.

Supervisory Responsibility:

None.

The salary range for this position is $45,000.00
