The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is seeking to fill a Fish Culture Assistant Supervisor vacancy at the New Gloucester Hatchery located in New Gloucester.
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a full-time position performing technical services work while participating in all duties associated in the operation of a complex facility that specializes in the propagation of salmonids for the statewide stocking program. Responsibilities include training and leading staff during all aspects of fish husbandry, transportation, and maintenance of the culture facility and equipment. This position also assists the station supervisor with the preparation and maintenance of records and reports. The employee must be able to work in diverse physical work environments, often in adverse weather conditions. Some weekend and holiday work is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A four (4) year combination of training, education, and/or experience in the biological sciences with an emphasis in fish culture or a directly related fisheries field and must include at least one (1) year of experience working at a fish cultural facility.
LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class): Valid Maine Class B Driver’s License.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: The employee will be required to live on site to provide security for the facility and respond to any emergencies that may arise.

- Describe your skill level using Microsoft Office client software to include examples of any completed projects.
- Describe how your outdoor interests and experience with fish and wildlife resources align with the mission of the Department.
