The Accountant provides professional-level accounting support in the completion and maintenance of ledgers and financial reports. Assists with financial analysis projects. Overall, the Accountant contributes to the CHS high-performance culture by exhibiting our values and providing quality results that position CHS as the leader in delivering proactive behavioral health, case management, community and early childhood solutions for children and families.

Primary Job Functions
1. Assists with the completion and maintenance of ledgers and financial reports at a professional level. Supports in the completion of financial analysis projects.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals and reversals on a monthly basis.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, research and analyze discrepancies.
- Prepare Financial Statements in a timely manner.
- Perform accounting and financial related research and analysis.
- Perform all general accounting functions for CHS and subsidiaries/related entities.
- Reconcile bank accounts and investment funds monthly; research and analyze discrepancies.
- Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
- Provide guidance and assistance to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll staff.
- Coordinate financial audit including preparation of schedules and related materials for auditors annually.
- Act as point person for Directors of Finance and Program staff for financial questions, assistance and customer service.
- Assist the Controller with projects and assignments as requested.
- Participate in the quality improvement process.
2. Contribute to a positive, engaging work environment.
- Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on job-related issues and trends.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, training and education, as well as the quality process.
- Comply with CHS’s code of conduct, policies, procedures and other obligations.
- Assist with training other team members and providing back up when necessary.
- Pick up projects on the fly; perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
- Demonstrate the CHS Common Bond values in the performance of all job duties.
Job Qualifications
Education, Licenses & Certifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited university, required.
Experience:
- Two to three years of accounting experience, required.
- Proficient in relevant accounting software, required.
- Experience working in a non-profit organization, preferred
