Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required
Certification/Licensure
Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
Basic Life Support (BLS)
ACLS
NIH Stroke Scale
Experience
Must have two or more years of current acute care hospital RN experience.
Department Overview
This 24 bed IMC Unit is designed for patients who are too ill for general medical/surgical, but do not need an intensive level of care. Patients on 4E require continuous monitoring and advanced nursing interventions including but not limited to ventilator management, tracheostomy care, telemetry monitoring, heparin infusions, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula and post-operative cardiac and vascular patient care.

Along with being a recognized accredited Primary Stroke Center, and Magnet hospital for nursing excellence, we also specialize in orthopedic and spine care, heart, vascular, maternity care, and general surgery. We are also home to the region’s only 24-hour hyperbaric oxygen program that helps speed up the healing of carbon monoxide poisoning, wounds that won’t heal, infections in which tissues are starved for oxygen, airborne chemical exposures, and scuba diving accidents.
