About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Caterpillar’s company strategy includes sustainability as one of four focus areas and IPSD is engaged and actively preparing green energy solutions for the future.

Job Summary:

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division seeks a Senior Engineer, Systems Integration in Mossville, IL to oversee the design and integration of 13L inline 6 diesel engine systems for Caterpillar machines and other commercial applications. The role includes end-to-end engine system design, manufacturing support, and post-production engineering, all performed in close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

What You Will Do:

  • Design C13D/2606 L4 complex engine systems including requirements definition, concept development, detailed design work, manufacturing support, and post-production ongoing engineering maintenance.

  • Serve as a technical mentor for engineers in the design, development, implementation, and optimization of engine configurations

  • Ownership of the complete engine system bill of material.

  • Work closely with a cross-functional team of experts in the engine component team, engine application integration team, engine development team, certification team, and software team to successfully take engine projects from concept to complete, certified engine

  • Provide engine system level technical leadership for Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Marketing, and Product Support

  • Additional responsibilities may include continuous product improvement (factory and field), technical problem solving, project timeline management, factory change planning and implementation, and cost reduction

Degree Requirement

Requires an engineering degree from an accredited university.  Preference in Agricultural or Mechanical Engineering

  • Approaches a complex problem by breaking it down into its component parts.

Effective Communications: Working Knowledge Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
