Summary
This leadership role is responsible for leading and enhancing the end-to-end experience for agents, with a strong focus on continuous process improvement across licensing and commission administration. This role oversees day-to-day operations of teams managing agent onboarding, licensing, and compensation, ensuring operational excellence and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and collaborative leader with exceptional communication skills and a passion for driving efficiency and engagement.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead agent onboarding and appointment processes, ensuring compliance with state regulations and internal standards.
• Manage agent contracting workflows, background checks, training requirements, and hierarchy setups.
• Oversee commission structures, setup, testing, and agent compensation changes.
• Ensure timely processing of appointment renewals and terminations, coordinating with Legal and Marketing.
• Handle escalated agent issues and ensure resolution in collaboration with distribution leadership.
• Monitor and audit vendor performance and internal processes.
• Maintain knowledge of licensing regulations, product offerings, and distribution channels.
• Support Finance in managing agent debit balances and reporting to Vector.
• Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and documentation updates.
• Manage team performance through coaching, training, and setting operational standards.
• Oversee budget for staff, vendors, and state appointment fees.
• Partner with IT to prioritize and implement system enhancements.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Direct supervision of staff responsible for agent maintenance and marketing support functions.
Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations, or related field
• 7+ years of experience in operations, preferably within insurance, financial services, or a regulated industry.
• Extensive experience in agent contracting, licensing, and commission administration within life/annuity insurance.
• Strong understanding of insurance distribution models and administrative systems.
• Proven ability to lead process improvements and meet operational benchmarks.
• Proficient in data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities along with stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
