About This Role:
This position is responsible for directing the activities of a systems development function. The engineering systems manager oversees the design, development, troubleshooting and debugging of software controlled systems for medical device manufacturing. The engineering systems manager works with their team of engineers to define the technical roadmap, software system architecture, and cross functional software interfaces.  The scope of management includes the Manufacturing Software and Data Analytics Reporting team for the Arden Hills operations site.
 
Your Responsibilities Will Include:

• Will lead a highly skilled team of 12 software developers, business analysts, and technical project leads to achieve our operational or project goals.
• Prioritizes project work and tracks progress towards completion.  Ensures that completed projects meet customer expectations and timelines.
• Engages with the IT team, corporate data architects, other corporate tool functional teams and counterparts at other Boston Scientific sites to align on development standards and common strategies.
• Provides support to new and sustaining initiatives in the areas of Manufacturing Software and Reporting, with input from our Process Development and Manufacturing customers.
• Drives engagement with our Operations teams, to find system based solutions to improve manufacturing Quality and throughput efficiency, and to reduce manufacturing costs related to labor content, scrap, and in-process inventory.
• Looks for opportunities to provide development support or transferrable software and systems to other Boston Scientific sites and peer engineering teams.
• Implements a staffing plan by identifying resource requirements, justifying the return on investment value of additional resources with specific skillsets, obtaining approval for changes, and effectively leading our diversity hiring process.
• Develops direct reports by securing appropriate training, assigning progressively challenging tasks, and conducting written and verbal performance reviews.
• Owns budget planning and financial performance for the team.
• Monitors compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. compliance with FDA, BSI, EEO regulations, etc.).

What We’re Looking For In You: 
Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent Technology field
• 4 - 7 years of engineering / related work experience
• At least 2 years previous supervisory experience
• Strong team and technical leadership skills are critical to the role
• Experience working with automated assembly and test equipment, equipment integration, or manufacturing software in a medical manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated success leading projects and implementing software applications to aid in improving manufacturing metrics. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience forming and executing on manufacturing software and data analytics strategies that adopt new industry leading technologies with successful implementation and significant operational benefits. 
• Familiarity with Boston Scientific global IT software packages, such as MES and RMI. 
• Basic understanding of Boston Scientific’s IT infrastructure.
• Previous large software system development experience. Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process experience. 
• Experience with commonly used software packages such as .NET Framework, Visual Studio, and SQL Server.
