The Director, Architectural and Workplace Design plans facilities changes for plant, office, and production equipment layouts, working toward economy of operation, maximum use of facilities and equipment, and compliance with laws and regulations. The Director, Architectural and Workplace Design requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across the function or segment.The Director, Architectural and Workplace Design coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation and other related costs. Inspects construction and installation progress for conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. Develops criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes. Decisions are typically related to the implementation of new/updated programs or large-scale projects for the function and supporting technical/operational procedures and processes, and implements strategic plans, drives goals and objectives, and improves performance. Provides input into functions strategy.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Interior Design
- 10 or more years of experience in leading large corporate design projects, developing floor plans and programing, and managing concurrent projects through all phases of design
- 8 or more years managing architectural design and project programming of real estate related projects on a national scale, including the creation and management of global design standards and specification
- 5 or more years of experience leading a team of architects and designers to execute project deliverables and develop design standards
- Experience and comfort with executive-level presentations and project reviews to capture design vision and execute directives
- Experience in leading a strategic organization focused on outsourcing relationships and strategic integration
- Experience exercising independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision
- Possess excellent verbal/written communication skills, strong sense of urgency, team player, and strong customer service skills
- Approximately 5-10% travel required to visit construction sites, existing locations and potential new locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in architecture, design or business administration
- Facilities certification (CFM, PMP, certification, IFMA credentials)
- 10 or more years' experience related to space planning, architectural and design field for corporate office and clinical environments
- AutoCAD and REVIT experience
