Reports to: Senior VP of Community Programs

General Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Senior VP, the Director is responsible for the administration and operation of all Education and Prevention programs throughout the seven-county region of the Hudson Valley. The Director is also responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Community, Education and Prevention programs, as well as representing the agency to the community at large.

Key Competencies:

• Consistent with the agency’s mission, operationalize new strategies and systems, and implement those already in existence, for Community, Education and Prevention programs so that they operate at maximum efficiency.
• Identify new needs and trends in the Community, Education and Prevention Department and develop plans to address these to ensure growth, effectiveness, and stability in the department.
• Assure compliance with regulatory standards of funding entities to ensure viability of programs.
• Supervise and develop Community Education and Prevention Management staff to ensure follow through on reporting, RFP/CFA development, supervision, and personnel issues.
• Communicate and collaborate with the Senior VP to carry out all department functions.
• Collaborate both internally at Cornerstone and externally in the community to ensure a seamless integration of HIV/HCV/STI education and prevention services with other services within the agency and with providers throughout the counties served.

Description of Duties:

• Responsible for providing overall direction and leadership to the Education and Prevention programs in keeping with the Agency’s strategic plans, mission, and vision.
• Responsible for programmatic oversight and operation for Education and Prevention programs in the seven-county region.
• Administers program operations; assures contract compliance with funding agencies; participates in the design, development and implementation of new programs and services.
• Leads the programs in long-range strategic planning with input from the department management team and PCQDM.
• Determines the status of programming priorities based on community needs by examining trends and patterns in service provision throughout the region.
• Integrates a continuous quality improvement process into all aspects of programming.
• Develops and updates department policies and procedures with CQI staff to maintain compliance with the requirements of government and private funding sources.
• Works with Senior VP and the Grants department to identify new grant opportunities to expand current services and/or create new programs.
• Develops and maintains collaborative linkages within the service provider community and takes a leadership role in community planning initiatives.
• Ensures program compliance with program standards and deliverables as outlined in contracts with funding entities.
• Works collaboratively with senior staff in preparing grant proposals and continuing funding applications and ensures the timely submission of monthly reports.
• Provides direct supervision to Education & Prevention management within the Community Programs Department.
• Responsible for working closely with the Senior VP and Finance to provide input on developing and modifying contract budgets as well as monitoring expenditures for various expense categories.
• Ensure effective inter-disciplinary integration and communication among programs both within the department and throughout the agency.
• Participate in the interviewing and hiring of program staff as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior VP of Community Programs.
• Attend and participate in monthly department, All Staff and other required meetings.
• Be familiar with Cornerstone policies and procedures and the Employee Handbook.
• Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of Cornerstone including, but not limited to, patient confidentiality, financials, and employee relations.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Public Health, Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
