SUMMARY: 

The West Lab is seeking a part-time, temporary research technician to help with day-to-day lab research including assistance with experiments in behavioral neuroscience and data analysis related to decision-making and learning following a history of chronic drug/diet manipulations and transgenic Alzheimer’s disease rodent models.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assist in breeding colony management and genotyping
• Assist with behavioral studies in rats including operant (either i.v. drug self-administration or natural food rewards) and Pavlovian conditioning
• Analyze cellular activity and behavioral data
• Help with histological processing of brain tissue 
• Prepare chemical reagents and maintain records
• Work professionally and collegially with others

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in neuroscience, psychology, biology or related discipline.  Previous research experience with behavioral neuroscience working with rodents is required.  Computer literacy and strong organizational and communication skills are preferred.

This is a part-time, temporary grant funded position, working 20 hours a week.
