Pay Range

$170,430- $218,868 Annually

Job Description

We are seeking an Environment Safety & Health (ES&H) Integration Specialist who will work with stakeholders from across the Laboratory to integrate ES&H requirements into the Work Planning and Control process. You will develop Job Hazards Analyses, training, and worker qualification programs in support of complex programmatic science, Research and Development nuclear, explosives, maintenance, and/or subcontractor work. This position is in the Work Planning and Control Office within the Environment Safety and Health Directorate.

Depending on your assignment, this position may offer a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You may have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week.

You will 

• Lead multi-disciplinary teams in integrating requirements into the work control process for performing highly complex, technical and operational, high-hazard/high-consequence work activities in support of LLNL’s mission.
• Facilitate discussions that lead to solutions for highly complex work control process integration issues and challenges that require in-depth analysis of multiple tangibles and in-tangible factors.
• Use independent judgment to deliver practical and value-added worker focused solutions to implement complex and sometimes competing ES&H requirements.
• Train, monitor, and advise Work Planners in applying ES&H requirements during the application of the work control process.
• Interact with colleagues, subject matter experts, and leaders of organizations across the Laboratory on integrating ES&H requirements into the work control process.
• Maintain the detailed status of multiple concurrent tasks in different phases of completion and continually move forward to resolve stakeholder requests.
• May serve on internal committees representing work control functional area management and provide strategic technical advice to management.
• May serve as the work control functional area management spokesperson on specialized projects or programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, ES&H or other related technical field, or the equivalent combination of education and significant related experience.
• Substantial experience working as a  work planning engineer, ES&H discipline/subject matter expert,  and/or project manager providing technical solutions to highly complex work activities.
• Substantial experience applying highly advanced knowledge of engineering and ES&H principles and compliance requirements; including significant knowledge of chemical, physical, explosives, and/or radiological hazards.
• Highly advanced knowledge of how to interpret ES&H policies to verify the difference between a requirement and a best management practice.
• Ability to lead the application and development of creative solutions, principles, theories, and innovative concepts associated with the work control process.
• Subject matter expert knowledge of highly advanced work control concepts and/or best practices.
• Extensive experience in expert level application and development of technical, business, or operational principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to independently contribute to work control functional area management technical projects or support of other related programs.
• Expert communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills necessary to effectively present, explain, and advise management, regulators, reviewers, and/or stakeholders.
