Job Description

As a Food Technologist you will provide insight and hands-on contribution to develop Savory Applications and test Savory flavors for regional and global applications within IFF. You will also play the critical role of a Project Manager, providing cross-functional team leadership and guidance to more junior technologists. In this role, you will also be responsible for flavor technology development within the Savory category and to develop winning flavor systems for key regional and global customers. 
 

We are looking for an individual with practical experience, strong communication & presentation skills, leadership ability and project management skills. This individual would build flavor portfolios and provide technical support for key accounts and customers as well as lead and coach more junior team members.

 

Responsibilities Include: 

 

• Formulate Savory applications and recipes via sound experimental design - for products such as soups, sauces, gravies, salad dressing, side dishes, meals-- which deliver optimal flavor systems that comply with cost in use, product design, nutritional requirements, regulatory and sensory requirements in order to increase key accounts global sales at specified margins and increase win rate. 
• Create recipes, utilizing multiple flavor delivery systems, that optimize flavor profiles which applied in a specific matrix, achieve high scores in testing with target consumers. High-score flavor systems represent the core of IFF project submissions and allow IFF to dominate competition. 
• Understanding of ingredient interactions and factors that influence finished product taste, texture & appearance for Savory systems and practical product development experience with plant based protein systems. 
• Provide leadership to advance strategic category and platform initiatives 
• Develop and implement business plans, in conjunction Sales and Category marketing, to deliver on major projects for key accounts. Establish the general approach to major projects in coordination with Sales and Category marketing, to ensure a winning category strategy. 
• Develop formulas featuring winning flavors, new technology and new product design proposals in order to add value to the flavor business and at the same time expand IFF technology applications. 
• Maintain close relationships with key accounts through teamwork, brainstorming and new technology sessions in order to consolidate customer partnerships. 
• Provide clear communication and promote cross-functional team collaboration on major projects to contribute to winning submissions. 
• Lead team to support proactive projects to ensure a long-term solid IFF marketing strategy. 
• Conduct product demonstrations to key customers as well as internal customers. 

Job Requirements

 

Required Experience 

 

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in the industrial food, ingredient or flavor industry 
• 5 years within the Savory field of expertise 
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in food science 
• Flavor business knowledge, specifically, applying, and working with flavors in Savory products 
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and creativity 
• Strong presentation skills 
• Required business travel will be 30% minimum 

 

 

Preferred Experience 

 

• MS in Food Science or related field 
• At least (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the Consumer Goods Industry 
• Project Management background 
• Interpersonal and organization skills 
• Product and process development experience
