Collins Aerospace is looking for Senior Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer for our Collins Aerospace Windsor Locks team within Mission Systems. This team is developing cutting-edge Environmental Control & Life Support and Thermal Control Systems (ECLSS/TCS) for challenging space applications. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in translating innovative designs into reliable and high-performance hardware, ensuring the safety and well-being of astronauts venturing into the unknown. The responsibilities include working on the manufacturing of highly complex assemblies for Space and Sea, such as heat exchangers, pumps, fans, and pressurized accumulators.

Position will work primarily onsite at our Windsor Locks, CT location.
What You Will Do
- Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of ECLSS/TCS components, providing feedback on design feasibility and suggesting cost-effective production methods
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for various components, including heat exchangers, cold plates, pumps, valves, filtration systems, and environmental control units
- Create and maintain detailed manufacturing plans, assembly procedures, and work instructions, adhering to stringent quality standards and space program regulations
- Conduct root cause analysis of manufacturing challenges and implement corrective actions to improve processes and ensure consistent quality
- Work closely with suppliers to source qualified materials and components, review and approve manufacturing processes
- Participate in design reviews and project meetings, providing technical expertise and contributing to continuous improvement efforts
- Stay up-to-date on advancements in manufacturing technologies and materials relevant to space applications
- Lead the development and optimization of manufacturing processes for life support and thermal control systems, considering the unique challenges of space environments
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks associated with manufacturing processes and equipment to minimize project delays and cost overruns
Qualifications You Must Have
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in an aerospace or high-reliability industry or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify and troubleshoot manufacturing issues
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Detail-oriented and highly organized with strong documentation skills
Qualifications We Prefer
- Proven experience with thermal control systems and life support technologies
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and quality control procedures
- Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Proficiency in CAD software and familiarity with manufacturing tools and techniques such as CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and precision assembly
- A strong interest in space exploration and a passion for contributing to innovative technologies
