 Schedule: Six days per week during the camp season
Meals Served: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner for approximately 240 campers and staff dailyWeekly menus typically include: 6 buffet breakfasts, 6 buffet lunches, 2 barbecue dinners, 5 family-style dinners, 1 brunch buffet OverviewDining Hall and Kitchen Staff are essential members of the Sandy Island Camp team, ensuring the smooth preparation, service, and delivery of all meals. These roles are central to creating a welcoming, efficient, and enjoyable dining experience for campers and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

• Support the Dining Hall Manager and Head Chef in the delivery of all meals.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary environment throughout the kitchen and dining hall.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with team members and supervisors.
• Assist in ensuring timely and efficient meal service for staff and campers.'

Kitchen Staff Duties

• Assist the Head Chef with food preparation, cooking, and plating.
• Maintain and stock the salad bar daily.
• Clean and organize all kitchen stations, storage areas, and equipment.
• Support dishwashing, waste management, and general kitchen upkeep as needed.
• Work closely with the Dining Hall team to coordinate food delivery and service.

Dining Hall Staff Duties

• Assist the Dining Hall Manager with meal service and setup.
• Set tables, prepare buffet lines, and arrange beverage stations before each meal.
• Serve meals courteously to campers and staff, including family-style dinners.
• Maintain cleanliness of dining areas, including sweeping, mopping, and wiping tables.
• Support meal transitions, including staff meals that generally precede camper meals.

Organization

• Support and understand relevant Action Plans and Procedures for the Dining Hall.
• Know and understand the camp menu to assist in efficient preparation and service.

Safety

• Support Incident Report management and follow camp safety protocols.
• Practice stewardship for the future, maintaining facilities and resources responsibly.
• Maintain and respect community boundaries to ensure the safety and well-being of all campers and staff.

Essential Functions

• Live onsite during the camp season.
• Perform additional duties as assigned; responsibilities may be reassigned based on camp needs.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

•  Full-Time Availability for the Camping Season Beginning 2 Saturdays before July 4 and ending Labor Day
• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Desire and ability to work with in a camp setting
• Strong attention to detail, cleanliness and follow through
• Passion for people, a willingness to serve
• Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control
