Position Overview

The Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) is the state’s lead division serving people with disabilities committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and racial justice. The mission of the Division is to assist individuals with disabilities in achieving their goals of employment, education, and independent living.  This position facilitates the establishment and maintenance of business relationships for the vocational rehabilitation program and identifies issues and recommends improvement for benefits planning, labor market trends and engagement activities for targeted populations.  This position interprets and translates information into Spanish for limited English-speaking individuals.  The Division of Rehabilitation Services is seeking to hire a dynamic and organized supervisor with strong communication and leadership skills.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Serves as Engagement and Support Services Administrator for the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS).
  2. Recommends operating goals and objectives for customer engagement for programs in DRS.
  3. Through customer engagement activities, promotes employment and economic advancement s for individuals with disabilities through the organization and facilitation of community focal groups.
  4. Serves as full-line supervisor.
  5. Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college with course work in a social or human services field.
  2. Requires four (4) years progressively responsible administrative experience in a health or human services organization.
  3. Requires the ability to speak, read and write Spanish at a colloquial skill level.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Three (3) years of professional experience working with federal statutes related to rehabilitation programs such as the Rehabilitation Act and amendments, the Social Security Act, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Workforce Innovative Opportunities Act (WIOA), and the Americans with Disabilities Act, etc.
  2. Three (3) years of professional experience working with Federal and State regulations and procedures developing plans to meet the diverse service needs of individuals with disabilities.
  3. Three (3) years of professional experience working with labor market and workforce tends as it relates to a targeted population such as rural and remote communities, youth in foster care, adjudicated youth and adults, culturally diverse populations, individuals with multiple disabilities, subminimum wage employees, individuals with mental health and developmental disabilities, and/or SSI/SSDI recipients.
  4. Three (3) years professional experience negotiating and establishing working agreements with employers, community providers, and/or agencies to establish services for targeted populations.
  5. Three (3) years of professional experience interacting with and communicating clearly and tactfully with a wide range of individuals that include state agency officials, the public, legislators, employers, internal and external stakeholders, community service providers, professional and lay groups, and employees.
  6. Two (2) years of professional supervisory experience assigning work, providing guidance to subordinates, recommending counseling and/or discipline following collective bargaining agreements, training staff, and preparing and signing performance evaluations.
