Patient Care Technician - Medical Surgical *Fulltime Night*

The PCT ll is a dual role Patient Care Tech/Telemetry Tech that has the ability to demonstrate the competency to function in either role independently. Under general supervision by the RN, the dual role Patient Care Tech is responsible for providing basic nursing care for in-patients and out-patients as needed, within their specified area. The Telemetry Tech accurately monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms for adult and geriatric patients, posts rhythm strips and keeps the Registered Nurse and Charge Nurse informed of changes in rhythm. The Patient Care Tech/Tele Tech is responsible for collecting and reporting information to the supervising RN and completion of all patient care related documentation.

Required qualifications:
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- For hires after 10/31/16:
- Completion of a CNA program, Or
- Completion of first semester nursing program, Or
- EMT program completion for hires to Emergency Services.
- Hires after 9/2018:
- Successful completion of dysrhythmia course AND ability to pass rhythm recognition exam test.
- National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
- Experience with basic data entry
Preferred qualifications:
- Satisfactory completion of medical terminology course or knowledge of medical terminology.
- 1 year of acute patient care experience, Or
- 6 months experience in a direct patient care environment providing clerical or patient support related to provider patient documentation or charting.
- 1 year of relevant telemetry tech experience.
