NE Renewable Power is made up of 5 Biomass electric generating power stations located in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.  These stations play a crucial role in supplying locally sourced renewable energy to the people of New England.

Sprague brings over 150 years of energy operating experience to the operations of these facilities, and we’re hiring a Operations & Maintenance Manager for the Springfield, NH location.

Our  Operations & Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading and managing a team of operations, maintenance and plant support employees, in the safe and efficient operation of a biomass power plant and it’s auxiliary systems. Incumbent must demonstrate a “safety first” approach to all plant O&M activities and lead the effort to instill that culture with all facility personnel. Incumbent must have the ability to lead others toward meeting or exceeding financial operational and performance goals within the power generation environment. Supports and facilitates successful client relations and management of financial and contractual matters. The Operations & Maintenance Manager must be a strong advocate for our environmental and safety goals and compliance. This position reports to the Springfield Plant Manager.

  • Operates the facility in a manner that protects the health and safety of employees and visitors, as a first priority.
  • Directs all outage and maintenance planning, including utilizing regional and company resources, such as the Engineering team.
  • Ensures compliance with environmental standards and applicable governmental regulations.
  • Proficient in the development and tracking of a multi-million-dollar O&M budget.
  • Strives to improve the performance and take responsibility for all operating and maintenance expenses.
  • Take the lead in directing a long-term plan to move the Springfield facility from Reactive maintenance to a Preventative and predictive maintenance program.
  • Coordinates staff efforts to solve problems and respond to opportunities as well as motivate the team to encourage personal and professional growth.
  • Maintains effective relationships with local political & community leaders.
  • Ensures compliance with all contracts to protect long-term interests of the company.
  • Assist with other duties as required.

Qualified Candidates will have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical degree program is required.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in a power plant environment with a proven track record of increasing managerial responsibility.
  • Solid negotiations, analytical, and planning skills coupled with the ability to multi-task.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong team player; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, customers, vendors, contractors and employees across various corporate disciplines.
  • Interpersonal skills; the ability to build and maintain strong partnerships and business relationships
  • Previous experience with NERC compliance management is a plus


Work Environment 
– Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

  • Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties. Work with hazardous materials may be required.
  • May be required to work 12 hour shifts with weekend and holiday work as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions. On call status (day or night) is required.
  • Includes working indoors
