We are growing quickly and adding a specialized role dedicated to hiring, training, and continually developing our manufacturing operations staff. This is a unique opportunity to make a substantial impact on the culture and productivity of the entire Melbourne operation.
A manufacturing operations background, project management expertise, a passion for people development, expert communication skills, and a continuous improvement focus are the essential to success in this high impact role.
Responsibilities:
- Own the Melbourne Manufacturing staffing and development program.
- Coordinate the flow of new hires and contractor conversions, ensuring communication between Training, Site HR, Talent Acquisition, and Production leadership is timely and accurate.
- Work with Operations Managers (IPT leaders) to understand staffing forecasts by role throughout the Operations functions.
- Generate staffing plans with input from Training, HR Talent Acquisition, Production leadership and Operations Finance and communicate those plans through various means including electronic media (spreadsheets, charts, etc.) and verbal messaging.
- Arrange for, prepare, and conduct interviews of potential new hires in collaboration with Production Managers and Administrative Professionals.
- Obtain permissions for new hires related to facility access (badging), and digital access (accounts logins, passwords, etc.).
- Coordinate allocation of new hires to their respective receiving mangers.
- Approve time sheets and reconcile issues with timekeeping and payroll.
- Arrange for all Digital Technologies and Security needs to ensure smooth entrance to the Collins Aerospace environment, whether a new hire, contractor, or contractor conversion.
- Coordinate with the Melbourne Quality organization and factory-level leaders (QATs, Production Managers, Production Coordinators, etc.) for OJT mentoring and follow up for everyone hired.
- Collect performance feedback from Trainers tracking training received and recommend assignments based on feedback from Trainers.
- Follow up with receiving mangers to ensure no issues remain after employee is assigned to a position and leader.
- Complete necessary transactions in Workday and SAP as needed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support the Operations teams with additional projects, requests and initiatives as needed (NGT redeployment and sustainment, results reporting, planning for sitewide initiatives, etc.).
- Accelerated Proficiency Cell leadership for development of Operator expertise and efficiency.
- Technician development planning and execution.
- Certification verification for all employees performing production work.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
- U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of Collins Workmanship Standards training process.
- Knowledge of types of manufacturing work performed across the facility.
- Experience with SAP timekeeping and time approval systems.
- Demonstrated project leadership proficiency.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills for interviewing, problem solving and communicating across the enterprise.
