Red HatAbout the role
About the job
The Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security (RHACS) team builds a Kubernetes-native container security solution that enables our customers to build, deploy, and run cloud-native applications anywhere securely. This team is looking for an intern to build security solutions helping our customers to safely operate some of the world’s largest commercial Kubernetes clusters in public, private, and hybrid clouds.
We design workflows to secure our customers’ Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes deployments across the full software development life cycle. You will contribute to the team’s mission to continue differentiating Red Hat OpenShift as the most secure distribution of Kubernetes. With a growing product and a strong mission, during your tenure, you’ll be able to make an immediate impact on our offering, APIs, architecture, and engineering processes. With Kubernetes adoption rapidly growing, the team constantly faces new challenges like simplifying our customer’s installation experience. Improving performance to enable scaling across multiple dimensions. Supporting more CPU architecture. Improve container risk calculation. Prepare the system for FIPS certification. Operating a cloud-native managed service flavour of RHACS. Through all of this, you will ensure our offering works for those getting started with Kubernetes and experts.
We are a fully remote team with colleagues working from different countries across Europe and are looking for individuals who thrive in an environment with a lot of autonomy. Successful applicants must reside in Germany - preferably in Berlin.
What you will do
- Write high-quality maintainable code
- Collaborate in a team committed to continuous improvement on tech, design, APIs, testing, and process
- Solve technical challenges on topics like efficient data collection and transformation, event processing, storage, and persistence
- Own the entire life cycle through design, implementation, and maintenance
- Build a personal brand through technical posts and visibility in the open-source community
What you will bring
- You have a strong interest in software engineering and bring prior experience in programming
- You are open to learning new technologies, programming languages, and concepts; we work in Go, but we care much more about your general engineering skills
- You enjoy delivering high-quality software with considerations for design, performance and scalability
- You are passionate about the user's perspective and want to build a product to be loved
- Knowledge of the Linux operating system (any distribution)
- You have experience using container runtimes and containerized applications
- You are comfortable collaborating remotely with your peers and delivering results while working independently
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- a good + will be also:
- Knowledge of and experience with Kubernetes
