This is second level intermediate professional environmental work performing and responsible for the completion of a range of assignments independently under limited supervision. The job requires skills in applying instructions to accomplish different job functions and a general understanding of scientific principles within the Wastewater Compliance Program.

Where you will work:
The Northwest District is located along the Gulf Coast. We proudly serve 16 counties in the Florida panhandle including Bay, Calhoun, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Wakulla, Walton and Washington. This district has three offices located in Pensacola, Panama City and Tallahassee. This position is available in the Tallahassee Branch Office located at 3900 Commonwealth Blvd. Tallahassee, FL. 32303.

Annual salary - $52,530.00

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:
Facility Compliance

In general, this position will conduct a wide variety of inspections including facilities known to be mid to highly complex and investigate and take action to resolve complaints.

  • Plans and conducts inspections, site visits and other required field work.
  • Reviews permitting files, reports and other documents applicable to the inspection.
  • Makes calculations and technical evaluations to determine compliance status of regulated facilities.
  • Provides compliance assistance to regulated facilities before, during and after inspections.
  • Conducts follow-up visits as needed to assist facilities with returning to compliance without enforcement.
  • When necessary, recommends enforcement action.
  • Drafts enforcement documents including documents for mid to highly complex cases.
  • Coordinates and leads enforcement meetings. 
  • Conducts specialized district peer reviews of inspection documents and reports and serves as a technical advisor in one or more program areas. 
  • Reviews permit applications and draft permits as necessary to ensure the final permit meets State regulatory requirements.
