About the Role 

We are looking for a Senior ETRM Technical Business Analyst to lead the analysis, design and implementation of enhancements to our Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) systems. This pivotal role involves close collaboration with both IT and business stakeholders to ensure our ETRM solutions effectively support our trading strategies, risk management practices and regulatory compliance requirements. Though this role will be based in North America, this position will have global impact.

The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of ETRM platforms, exceptional analytical capabilities, and a strategic mindset to drive innovation and efficiency within our trading operations. This role can be based in either our Austin, TX or New York City offices, and will be a full-time position owning the following responsibilities:

  • Leading the analysis of complex business requirements, mapping out processes and recommending ETRM system enhancements to support business objectives.
  • Serving as the primary liaison between business units and IT, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project goals and deliverables.
  • Designing and overseeing the implementation of advanced ETRM solutions, including custom functionality, to enhance trading operations and risk management capabilities.
  • Conducting thorough testing and validation of new system features, ensuring they meet stringent quality standards and business needs before rollout.
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to junior analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the team.
  • Staying abreast of the latest industry trends, regulatory changes and technological advancements, leveraging this knowledge to drive strategic improvements in our ETRM systems.

 

About You

This person will be an autonomous worker, confident with energy trading & risk management solutions, and able to successfully collaborate with front-to-back-office stakeholders.

In addition, we are looking for somebody with the following requirements:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a technical business analyst role in the energy trading sector.
  • Tangible experience with ETRM platform (Endur/Findur, Align, Allegro etc.); including analyzing and solving complex business problems, and understanding their architecture and customization capabilities, including integration.
  • Extensive knowledge of energy trading and risk management (ETRM) Front-to-Back business processes; including trade exchange integration, trade capture, trade valuation, confirmations, invoicing and risk reporting.
  • As a technical business analyst, strong working experience with T-SQL (SQL Server or Oracle) is required. Further knowledge of Python, Java or similar scripting languages is preferred.
  • Stakeholder management of Front Office to Back Office users; working closely to turn business requirements into technical solutions.

Additional non-essential but desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of Financial and Physical North American Power and Gas Markets.
  • Knowledge of US or EU Renewables Trading.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with a proven track record of leading large-scale ETRM implementation or enhancement projects.
  • Experience in designing in house ETRMs or migrating to different ETRMs is highly desirable.
