Nightwing is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Manager to work on a classified, technology development program. In this role, you will be responsible for leading moderately sized engineering projects to develop innovative solutions from start to finish in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.

The successful candidate with have a strong background in project or program leadership, engineering management, and possess a high level of technical competency. The position requires a candidate with a positive demeanor, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to address challenges directly in a collaborative environment. Your strong interpersonal skills will be essential for building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including subcontractors and customers.

You will oversee planning and execution of multiple tasks while coordinating the internal and subcontractor resources necessary to maintain technical, schedule, and cost objectives. A strong understanding of leadership and mechanical engineering expertise is essential for proper execution such as subcontractor management, customer interaction, engineering analysis, research activities, and technology roadmap planning. You will play a critical role in aligning projects you oversee with broader Helios program objectives to ensure that these developments cross pollinate with the program’s overall structure. By identifying and implementing novel approaches, you will assist in driving task and subcontractor success as well as enriching the broader program toolset.

Required Skills:

  • Candidate must possess an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance
  • Minimum eight (8) years’ prior relevant experience in a Mechanical Engineering role or related field with a University Degree OR five (5) years’ prior relevant experience in a Mechanical role or related field with an Advanced Degree.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, collaborative team environment balancing often widely different project tasks and types
  • Experience with task or project planning, reports, and technical documentation
  • Proficient with material mechanics and engineering dynamics
  • Proficient with MS Office tools including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project
  • Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo)
  • Experience with leading small to moderately sized technical development teams
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with electro-mechanical systems, automation, robotics, and/or sensors

Required Education:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • M.S. in Engineering Management

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
