Job Description
As a Security Officer - Municipal Access Control in Tampa, FL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Access Control Security Officer with Allied Universal at a government location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials and badges, greet visitors with professional customer service, and document security-related activity. You will remain visible, conduct routine patrols as assigned, and communicate clearly with staff and the public to help reduce incidents. What You'll Do:
- Provide customer service to clients and site visitors at a government location by following Allied Universal post orders, access control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Control access at designated entry points by verifying identification, confirming authorization, and directing visitors, vendors, and contractors according to site procedures.
- Operate visitor management processes including sign-in and sign-out procedures, issuing and collecting visitor credentials, and maintaining access logs and/or records as required.
- Monitor doors, gates, and other access points for irregular activity and help to deter unauthorized entry by maintaining a professional presence and applying post instructions.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner and notify site leadership and/or emergency services per procedure.
- Communicate clearly with site personnel and members of the public to provide directions, answer questions, and de-escalate conflicts when appropriate.
- Conduct regular and random patrols around buildings, entry points, and the perimeter, noting unusual conditions and reporting maintenance and security-related concerns through the chain of command.
- Complete detailed reports on incidents, access control activity, and notable observations using required report formats and/or electronic systems.
- Support emergency procedures such as evacuations, severe weather actions, and restricted access periods as directed by post orders and local requirements.
- Follow all confidentiality requirements for government-related operations, including handling of documents and information encountered during daily duties.
Minimum Requirements:
- A state, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
- Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
