Salary Ranges: 

  • Planner II: $5,250.00/month - $5,400.00/month***
  • Planner III:  $5,401.00.month - $5,625.00/month***

 

General Description

The Regional Flood Planning Department is looking for a highly motivated individual to participate in a dynamic and high achieving team to help administer and enhance Texas’ statewide regional flood planning program.

Performs routine (journey-level) to highly complex (senior-level) planning and research work. Work involves supporting and coordinating the development of regional flood plans by self-governing regional flood planning groups. Coordinates and manages flood planning grant contracts for development of regional flood plans. Serves as liaison (non-voting member) on regional flood planning groups in this very public, high-profile process as the planning groups develop and update their regional flood plans. Provides unbiased technical and administrative assistance to regional flood planning groups. Assists regional flood planning groups in understanding and navigating the regional and state flood planning framework, rules, and guidance, reviewing the draft flood plans, informing, and educating stakeholders including making presentations. Supports agency project development teams and evaluates flood projects as part of the agency funding application process. Assists in developing the state flood plan. May train others. Works under moderate to limited supervision, with limited to considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Manager of the Regional Flood Planning Department.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manages planning contracts for regional flood planning and related studies to assure products meet the intent of the scope of work, rules, and statutory requirements.
  • Serves as the liaison (non-voting member) and provides direct technical and administrative assistance to multiple regional flood planning groups to facilitate the timely completion of their regional flood plans and studies.
