Position Overview:The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is seeking a Business Services Specialist for the Student Affairs Business Services Center (SABSC). This position works closely with Division of Student Affairs (DoSA) staff and other University departments and has supervisory responsibility of staff involved in payroll, purchasing and other activities for select DoSA departments and all student organizations.

Responsibilities:Specific duties include:
- Supervise and monitor payroll-related transactions on behalf of designated DoSA departments, including but not limited to time entry, new employee onboarding and other personnel actions
- Supervise and monitor purchasing on behalf of DoSA departments and student organizations using various purchasing methods, including Paw Procurement and procurement cards
- Supervise monthly reconciliation of financial data and provide regular reports and analyses to Director of Business and Administrative Services and DoSA leadership
- Supervise financial activities related to student organizations, including regular purchasing activities and annual budget review and approval process
- Meet regularly with DoSA directors and other staff to review financial and personnel activities
- Supervise office operations, including student staff
- Represent SABSC on various committees and workgroups on behalf of Director and DoSA leadership
- High School Diploma or GED
- Six years progressively responsible experience in a combination of budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing and personnel work
Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience in a higher education environment
- Supervision of student employees
