The Business Manager I provides administrative, financial, operational, and programmatic support forWorkforce Development while serving as a central resource for business operations across all Workforce Development program areas. The incumbent coordinates business processes that support the planning, delivery, and administration of Workforce Development programs and contract training initiatives.

The Business Manager I is responsible for coordinating contract invoicing for Workforce Development contract training activities; serving as the cost center alias for all Workforce Development cost centers; coordinating procurement and purchasing activities through the College's REQM system; providing executive-level administrative support to the Executive Director of Workforce Development; and supporting contract administration activities for the Business Solutions Specialist. The position works collaboratively with Workforce Development program staff, the Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD) Operations team, business clients, instructors, and other College departments to ensure accurate financial processing, efficient business operations, and exceptional customer service.

The individual in this position performs work under general supervision with moderate latitude for independent judgment, initiative, and decision-making while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.

The hiring salary for this position will be from the min to mid-point of the salary range advertisedThis position is open until filled.

Examples of duties

Essential Functions:
 35%- Business Operations, Financial Administration & Budget Coordination
  • Maintains internal shadow accounting records for all Workforce Development cost centers, grants, and special funds. 
  • Administers and reconciles monthly expenditures and financial records, ensuring accounting transactions are accurately reflected in Colleague. 
  • Monitors fund availability and advises Workforce Development leadership on budget status, expenditures, and projected balances. 
  • Identifies and resolves budget discrepancies while coordinating corrective actions with Accounting. 
  • Responds to requests for financial information and prepares financial reports for Workforce Development leadership. 
  • Assists the Executive Director in the preparation, development, and monitoring of the annual operating budget by researching historical data, enrollment trends, projected course offerings, and anticipated expenditures. 
  • Serves as the cost center alias for all Workforce Development cost centers.
30%- Procurement, Contract Administration & Business Services
  • Coordinates procurement activities for all Workforce Development program areas by preparing requisitions and processing purchases through the College's REQM system. 
  • Coordinates contract invoicing and monitors payment status for Workforce Development contract training. 
  • Serves as the central point of coordination for contract training business processes, including timelines, billing, closeout activities, and collaboration with ConEd Operations, Accounting, and other College departments.
