Position Summary:
Cesium, now part of Bentley Systems, defines the standard for 3D geospatial visualization and streaming across industries from construction and defense to aerospace and energy. As we scale our commercial business, we’re seeking a technically strong, customer-focused Solutions Engineer to help convert inbound demand into strategic wins.
This role blends technical acumen, customer engagement, and business insight. You’ll serve as the technical face of Cesium in business engagements, helping prospects and partners understand our technology, design high-impact solutions, and drive adoption of the Cesium platform in commercial workflows.
Responsibilities:

Partner with Business Development to support pre-sales conversations, customer discovery, and proposal development with a strong technical foundation.

Lead technical demonstrations and proof-of-concept implementations to help customers evaluate CesiumJS, Cesium Native, 3D Tiles, and Cesium ion for their needs.

Act as a solutions architect: assess customer tech stacks, design integrations, and map Cesium capabilities to real-world requirements.

Collaborate with product management to surface customer feedback and shape product direction.

Serve as a Cesium advocate in conferences, webinars, and community forums by building trust through transparency and technical credibility.

Produce clear, concise documentation, technical blogs, and demo apps that help educate users and accelerate adoption.

Work closely with marketing and comms to translate technical use cases into compelling stories and demos.
Qualifications:

5+ years of software engineering experience with JavaScript, C++, or similar.

Proficient with CesiumJS, Cesium ion, or other modern 3D visualization tools.

Experience working directly with customers, sales engineers, or technical support.

Solid understanding of 3D graphics concepts: WebGL, 3D Tiles, shaders, and rendering pipelines.

Comfortable writing custom integrations using REST APIs and web-based platforms.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Experience with open-source contributions, particularly Cesium-related, is a major plus.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Geospatial Sciences, or equivalent experience.

Deep knowledge of CesiumJS architecture, 3D Tiles specification, and asset pipelines preferred.

Experience integrating Cesium into enterprise environments or building scalable, cloud-based geospatial applications preferred.

Familiarity with tools like Unreal Engine, Unity, Omniverse, or Three.js preferred.

This is a full-time role expected to work 40 hours per week

Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).

The role requires communication with managers, peers and other colleagues of the company in person (on occasion), and by utilizing Microsoft Teams chat, calling and meeting functions.
