Location: West US (California or Denver Preferred, with significant travel within the region)
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Director - Fire & Hazmat to drive revenue growth within the Fire and Hazmat sectors across the Western United States. This strategic role involves developing and executing targeted sales initiatives, ,tracking funding grants, co-developing partners expertise with Hazmat business plans, managing key accounts, and fostering relationships with fire departments, hazmat teams, emergency response agencies, and industrial safety professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue targets within the Fire & Hazmat market in the West US.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities with municipal fire departments, industrial hazmat teams, and other emergency response organizations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, department chiefs, safety officers, and procurement personnel.
- Navigate complex procurement processes specific to public safety and industrial sectors.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, including marketing, product management, and customer success, to tailor connected safety solutions for Fire & Hazmat clients.
- Stay current with relevant safety regulations, standards (e.g., NFPA, OSHA), and emerging trends affecting fire and hazmat operations.
- Lead compelling presentations, product demonstrations, and training sessions for fire and hazmat stakeholders.
- Represent Blackline Safety at industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events relevant to the Fire & Hazmat sector.
- Provide regular sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and market intelligence to leadership.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of proven business development or sales experience, specifically within the Fire & Hazmat, public safety, or industrial safety sectors.
- Demonstrated track record of success in securing significant contracts and driving revenue growth.
- Strong understanding of the operational needs and procurement cycles within fire departments and hazmat teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical solutions clearly.
- Ability to work independently, manage a territory effectively, and collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar platforms.
- Willingness to travel significantly within the West US region (up to 50% travel may be required).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience selling gas detection, connected safety, or lone worker solutions.
- Existing relationships with fire chiefs, hazmat coordinators, or key decision-makers in the West US.
- Knowledge of NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and other compliance requirements relevant to emergency response.
- Background in fire services, hazmat operations, or emergency management is a strong asset.
