The City of Kingman is seeking a highly capable, journey-level Facilities Maintenance Specialist to perform a wide variety of skilled, semi-skilled, and technical tasks. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the comprehensive repair, remodeling, maintenance, and custodial care of municipal buildings and properties, working under the general direction of the Building Maintenance Operations Supervisor.
About You
You are a fully competent, multi-trade professional who brings a high degree of expertise to several fields—including rough and finish carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, painting, and masonry. You are comfortable interpreting blueprints, sketches, and digital work orders, and you possess the moderate computer skills needed to manage varied assignments. Whether tackling projects independently or working as part of a team, you take ownership of selecting the right tools and methods for the job. You are also a natural leader, ready to step up as a crew leader to supervise maintenance personnel, temporary staff, community service workers, or DOC inmate workers as needed to keep City facilities running safely and efficiently.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCETech I Level:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years of building maintenance, construction, or repair experience.
- Supplemental education or technical training in a field related to building maintenance through a recognized trade union, technical school or equivalent, accredited college or university desired.
- Any combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the assigned work.
Tech II Level:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years of building maintenance, construction, or repair experience.
- Possession of journey-level certification in area of assignment (or demonstrated journey-level proficiency): electrical, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, etc. preferred. (Tech II)
- Supplemental education or technical training in a field related to building maintenance through a recognized trade union, technical school or equivalent, accredited college or university desired.
- Any combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the assigned work.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 6 (six) months.
- Based on assignment, may be required to participate and obtain OSHA work site safety training certifications.
- Based on assignment, may be required to participate and obtain NIMS (National Incident Management System) training certifications.
Qualifications
Skilled Trades & Facilities Maintenance (55%): Perform hands-on semi-skilled and skilled technical repairs, preventative maintenance, and physical facility upkeep across all City buildings. This primary duty encompasses multi-trade work including rough and finish carpentry, minor electrical (replacing motors, switches, fixtures, and breakers), plumbing (installing lines, fixtures, valves, and water heaters), and HVAC troubleshooting. Responsibilities also include masonry, concrete pouring, roofing repairs, plastering, painting, flooring installation, moving heavy equipment, and performing basic custodial tasks to ensure building safety and operational continuity.Project Planning, Estimating & Administrative Compliance (20%): Handle the technical planning, administrative tracking, and code compliance necessary for building upke
