Overview: Universal Engineering Sciences (UES) has an opening in our Building Inspection Department. UES is a nationwide leader in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Inspection, Building Code Compliance, Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, and Building Envelope.
Summary As a Building Inspection Project Manager you will be responsible for performing structural building inspection duties as well as inspect commercial and residential buildings, which are under construction or being repaired, remodeled, or enlarged and ensure structural integrity and compliance with building codes and ordinances. If you’re reliable, have a good work ethic, and can cooperate with co-workers and clients respectfully, this is the position for you.

Physical Demands & Work Environment: • Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear; body motions and movements include: bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing • Lifting and/or moving up to 35 lbs regularly on average, and up to 75 lbs on occasion, with or without reasonable accommodation • This job is located in Florida, with exposure to intense sun, intense heat, humidity, rain, thunderstorms, and other adverse weather conditions • Job site conditions may or may not be accessible by vehicle and can include wetlands, swamps, grasslands, and fields with uneven surfaces, sand, brush, and other natural and man-made obstacles. • This job is primarily and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and construction sites where the noise level is usually moderate to loud

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs inspections of foundations, concrete slabs, framing, roofing, and related construction work.
- Exercises tact and courtesy when conducting inspections.
- Ensure that project requirements are met and compliant with inspection specifications, requirements and company policies or procedures.
- Travel to various job sites at locations locally.
- Prepare reports and report data in a complete, timely and understandable fashion and return as required to branch office.
- Complete daily time and labor reports in accordance with company policy.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and current inspection records.
- Determines whether changes may be required in plans and makes recommendations to contractors, engineers, architects, etc.
- Perform Structural Building Inspection duties
- Inspect commercial and residential buildings, which are under construction or are being repaired, remodeled or enlarged and is performed during various stages of completion to ensure structural integrity and compliance with building codes/ordinances.
- Follow all company safety procedures and policies
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications:
- Mechanical Inspector/Plans Examiner
- Electrical Inspector/Plans Examiner
- Plumbing Inspector/Plans Examiner
- Family Dwelling 1 & 2
- Standard Plans Examiner
- Valid Driver's license with acceptable driving record
- State of Florida Building Inspector and/or Plans Examiner License
