Senior Risk Manager
Overview: The Senior Risk Manager is responsible for creating and leading the risk management department and ensuring that the company effectively identifies, assesses, and mitigates risks across its business operations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management strategy aligned with the company’s objectives.
- Oversee risk assessment processes, including the identification and evaluation of business risks.
- Establish policies and procedures for risk reporting and risk mitigation activities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to risk management.
- Provide guidance to senior management on risk-related matters and strategic decisions.
- Lead the development of risk modeling and analysis tools to enhance decision-making.
- Monitor changes in the external environment that may affect the risk profile of the organization.
- Facilitate risk management training and promote a risk-aware culture within the company.
- Coordinate with other departments to integrate risk management practices into all business activities.
- Manage the preparation and communication of risk reports to stakeholders, including the board of directors.
- Respond to and manage incidents and crises that have the potential to impact the company adversely.
- Direct the activities of the risk management team, providing leadership and career development opportunities upon expansion of risk department.
- Develop and manage risk department’s budget ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources for risk management activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., ARM, FRM, PRM, CRM).
- 7-15 years of experience in risk management, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
- Relevant experience in creating and establishing a risk management department with domestic and international operations
- Strong understanding of financial markets, operational processes, and legal/regulatory landscapes.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Superior communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate future risk scenarios.
Miscellaneous:
- This role is remote and may involve significant travel, estimated at 25-50% to engage with various stakeholders, oversee risk management at multiple locations and stay abreast of global risk trends.
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
